Print this free Pachycephalosaurus coloring page for a dinosaur with a memorable rounded skull. The simple forest setting leaves the dome and head bumps front and center.
What we know about Pachycephalosaurus
Pachycephalosaurus lived in western North America during the late Cretaceous, about 76 to 66 million years ago. It was a plant-eating or mixed-diet ornithischian with a very thick domed skull, small horns, and a stiff body. Adults may have been around 4 to 5 meters long.
- The dome may have been used in display, recognition, or social behavior; direct head-butting is still debated.
- Fossils are known from Montana, Wyoming, and South Dakota.
- Juveniles had flatter skulls, and their head shape changed as they matured.
Coloring and printing tips
- Print at 100% on US Letter, or choose fit to page or shrink to fit for A4.
- Colored pencils suit the small head bumps; crayons make the body and plants easy to fill.
- Use 65-90 lb paper or 90-160 gsm. Pick cardstock for markers.
- Try a warm dome color against cooler green forest plants to emphasize the profile.
