This nativity scene coloring page shows an open wooden stable with a blanket-lined manger, a large star shining above the roof, and one sheep and one donkey resting nearby. Use the PDF download below for a quiet, screen-free, hands-on activity with your family or Sunday school class.
Designed with clear shapes and open spaces, this coloring book page works well for older kids and younger children alike. Crayons and colored pencils are ideal for giving the wooden stable beams a warm brown grain and keeping the sheep soft and textured. Whether you are putting together a church activity folder or a December binder at home, it prints in seconds.
About the Christian nativity tradition
Setting up a nativity scene, also called a creche, is a meaningful Christian tradition that commemorates the birth of Jesus as told in the Gospels of Luke and Matthew. For families and congregations who observe the religious holiday, the manger, the guiding star, and the stable animals serve as a visual reminder of the Christmas story. Many households display carved wooden or ceramic figures on a mantel throughout Advent.
Coloring and printing tips
- Paper recommendations: Choose standard copy paper (20 lb / 80 gsm) when using crayons or colored pencils, and switch to cardstock (65 lb / 160 gsm) for water-based markers.
- Page sizing: The free printable file is sized for US Letter at 100% scale in black and white, and fits A4 paper cleanly when you check fit to page in your print dialog.
- Coloring the night sky: Color the big star above the roof with a bright yellow crayon first, then lightly shade the background sky in deep blue so the star stands out.
