This Christmas tree coloring page features a tall evergreen trimmed with round ornaments, a star on top, and wrapped presents stacked underneath. Grab the free PDF below for a quiet, screen-free, hands-on activity this December.
I drew this Christmas tree coloring page with clear, open shapes so it works well for preschoolers and older kids alike. A single tall tree fills the center of the coloring sheet, decorated from top to bottom with round ornaments, a five-pointed star at the crown, and wrapped gifts resting at the base. The spacing around the branches makes it easy to use wax crayons, colored pencils, or washable markers without crowding the line art.
How decorated trees became a holiday tradition
Bringing an evergreen indoors and trimming it for Christmas spread from German-speaking parts of Europe during the nineteenth century. Early trees were lit with small wax candles and hung with apples, nuts, and paper ornaments before glass baubles and electric lights took over in the twentieth century.
Coloring and printing tips
- Paper choice: Standard 20 lb (80 gsm) copy paper is great for crayons and colored pencils. Switch to 65 lb (160 gsm) cardstock if your kids prefer felt-tip or alcohol markers.
- Printer settings: Each PDF download is formatted for US Letter paper at 100% scale in black and white, and it prints cleanly on A4 when you select fit to page.
- Color ideas: Try deep forest green and pine green on the boughs, then pick two or three repeating colors like red, gold, and silver for the round ornaments and gift ribbons.
- Terms of use: Every free printable on my site is free for personal, classroom, and homeschool use, not for resale; see my site terms and disclaimer for details.
