Four wrapped gift boxes sit stacked on top of one another in this Christmas presents coloring page, each tied up with thick ribbons and big looping bows. Download the free printable below for a quiet, screen-free, hands-on activity at home or school.
Straight box edges and wide ribbon loops make this printable coloring page a great pick for preschoolers learning to color inside distinct sections, as well as older kids who like inventing custom wrapping paper designs. Before filling in the boxes with crayons or colored pencils, kids can draw tiny polka dots, plaids, or stars right onto the blank sides of this clean line art.
The custom of wrapping holiday gifts
Exchanging winter gifts and tucking surprises into boxes or fabric wraps is a decorative custom that developed over centuries without a single starting date. Long before roll wrapping paper became common in department stores, people used heavy brown parcel paper, wallpaper scraps, tissue, and reusable cloth ribbons to conceal presents until Christmas morning. A big bow on top remains the classic finishing touch.
Coloring and printing tips
- Paper selection: Everyday copy paper (20 lb / 80 gsm) suits wax crayons and colored pencils, while heavier cardstock (65 lb / 160 gsm) prevents marker ink from bleeding through to the table.
- Printer setup: Print the US Letter PDF in black and white at 100% scale, or choose fit to page if your printer tray holds A4 sheets.
- Contrast the ribbons: Pick contrasting colors for each box and its bow, such as kraft-paper brown with bright red ribbon or navy blue with yellow trim.
- Classroom permissions: Teachers and parents can print as many copies as needed for personal, classroom, or homeschool groups; check the site disclaimer for guidelines.
