Shown in side profile, this wooden sleigh is stacked high with ribbon-tied gifts and draped with a woven plaid blanket over the side. Grab the PDF below for a quiet, screen-free, hands-on activity using colored pencils or fine-tip markers.
This sleigh with gifts coloring page shows a curved wooden sleigh in side view, piled high with wrapped boxes and finished with a plaid blanket hanging over the side panel. Because the checkered blanket and gift ribbons have smaller sections, this line art is well suited for older kids and adults who enjoy sharpening colored pencils or using fine-tip markers.
Details in the sleigh, blanket, and presents
Traditional wooden sleighs were built with curved runners to glide smoothly over packed snow, while a heavy wool lap robe kept passengers warm against the winter wind. In this drawing, the overlapping squares of the plaid blanket give you a great excuse to test a classic red-and-black buffalo check or a green tartan pattern. Above the blanket, each wrapped box has its own bow and ribbon, so you can mix metallic gold pencils with rich jewel tones.
Coloring and printing tips
- Best paper for detail: Print on 65 lb (160 gsm) cardstock if you plan to layer alcohol or water-based markers on the plaid squares, or use 20 lb (80 gsm) copy paper for colored pencils.
- Printer setup: The PDF is sized for US Letter at 100% scale in black and white, and prints neatly on A4 paper when you select fit to page.
- Coloring the plaid: Color the lighter vertical and horizontal stripes first, then fill in the small intersecting squares with your darkest shade so the weave looks crisp.
- Wood grain texture: Lightly layer two shades of brown pencil along the side of the sleigh to mimic varnished timber.
