Jack-o’-Lantern Coloring Page to Print and Color

A big round pumpkin with a carved smiling face, curly stem, and fallen leaves, free printable coloring page

A round pumpkin, a wide smile, and a stem that curls. Print the PDF and pick a color for every leaf.

A big round pumpkin fills the page, with a carved smiling face, a curly stem, and a few fallen leaves at its base. The shapes are wide and open, so this page suits younger children, roughly four to eight, and anyone who wants a quiet, screen-free, hands-on activity. Crayons and pencils both sit well on lines this heavy.

Pumpkin faces, and who does the cutting

If you are coloring this page next to a real pumpkin, the order matters more than the design. An adult does the cutting. A child can draw the face on the pumpkin first with a washable marker, scoop the seeds with a metal spoon, and leave the knife work to a grown-up.

  • Sketch the face on paper first, so changing your mind costs nothing.
  • Keep cut shapes large and well apart. Thin bridges of skin break first.
  • Set a finished pumpkin on newspaper. A cut one softens within a day.

Coloring and printing tips

  • Print at 100% scale, not fit to page, so the pumpkin stays as wide as it was drawn.
  • Copy paper (20 lb / 80 gsm) for crayons and pencils; cardstock (65 lb / 160 gsm) for markers.
  • The stem curl and leaf veins are the smallest spots. Save them for a sharp pencil.
  • Try an orange base with a brown shadow down one side instead of one flat color.
  • Print a stack for a party table and set out a jar of orange and green pencils.

Two pages that sit well beside this one are the black cat coloring page and the friendly ghost coloring page. The rest of the set is on the Halloween coloring pages hub. Every page is free for personal, classroom, and homeschool use, not for resale, and the terms of use spell that out.
